- Reading
- If reading together, pause when the offer appears and discuss what Kennin seems to need, what remains uncertain, and what information might help him decide. Return to those questions as the consequences become clearer.
- Themes
- A risky racing offer: Kennin is under pressure to leave street racing, yet is offered money to repair his car and the prospect of cash to address his problems through a casino owner's drift team. The setup places a potentially consequential offer against Kennin's wish to get his life back on track, but does not establish whether the story endorses or criticises his choice.
- Worth knowing
- Illegal street races, a police crackdown and high-stakes racing are part of the setup. How racing and its risks are depicted in scenes is unclear, so consider your reader's response to that subject.
