SuitabookThe Dinosaur's Diary
Julia Donaldson
- Reading
- If suspense is a concern, read together and pause at the threats or rescue to check how the story feels; let the child set the pace.
- Themes
- Protecting the young: Hypsilophodon seeks a safe place for her eggs and later tries to protect her young, including during the effort to recover Hector. Protection and care are central to the events described; the story’s broader judgement or emphasis is not clear.
- Worth knowing
- Threats to eggs and young dinosaurs, followed by a baby being taken and a rescue, may bring danger and suspense into the story.
