- Reading
- As you read, track what each side wants and what is at stake for others; this can help keep the competing claims distinct amid the magical action.
- Themes
- Freedom and confinement: The dragons regard their sanctuaries as prisons, and Celebrant seeks to free them and reclaim power. The conflict places dragons’ claim to freedom alongside the threat their uprising poses to others; the story’s evaluative stance is unclear.
- Working together under threat: Kendra and Seth must work together against forces with superior supernatural powers as the world faces destruction. The book’s stance on this remains unclear.
- Worth knowing
- The stakes include threatened destruction and battles against powerful supernatural forces, so expect peril and conflict; the detail and intensity of those scenes are unclear.
