SuitabookAdventures of Piffels the elf
David J. Babulski
- Reading
- Try reading together if your child would enjoy talking through loyalty and rule-breaking as the adventure unfolds. Pause at Piffels’s consequential choices, then compare his aims with the Master’s without assuming the story treats every choice alike.
- Themes
- Friendship across a forbidden boundary: Piffels seeks contact with Esmeralda despite a sacred law forbidding contact between elves and humans; his loyalty to her and his people drives the conflict. The conflict turns on whether friendship and loyalty can justify crossing a communal boundary.
- Worth knowing
- The story may involve peril or morally difficult choices. If these are a concern, consider checking in with your child as they read.
