- Reading
- Try one story at a time, then compare the writers’ approaches to tricksters. The collection includes many contributors, so pausing between pieces can make room to discuss which voices or interpretations stand out.
- Themes
- Tricksters in folklore: The collection brings together stories and poems about tricksters, with material described as drawing on folklore from around the world. The subject is established, but it is not clear whether the stories praise, criticise, or simply present trickster behaviour.
- Worth knowing
- Tricksters and folklore provide the collection’s shared focus, but the nature of their actions and the tone of the individual pieces remain unclear. If particular themes matter to your family, checking a story before reading may help.
