- Reading
- Pause over the illustrations to spot the visual puns, then use the fish endpaper to look up a species that catches your reader’s interest.
- Themes
- Thinking through wishes and offers: Peter Alan offers something to sea creatures, whose visit grows unruly. The stated caution, “Be careful what you wish for”, supports reading the story as affirming thoughtfulness about possible consequences.
- Worth knowing
- The visit becomes unruly, with a bucking bull shark and a slimy fish invasion. These are presented as playful scenes, but the full intensity and resolution are not clear.
