- Reading
- If the murder premise feels weighty, check in as you read and let the reader set the pace. You could also pause at turning points to talk about what makes trust difficult.
- Themes
- A mystery built around belief and trust: Grace is determined to investigate her mother’s death, although people around her doubt her account and she is unsure whom to trust. These tensions establish the investigation’s personal stakes and give the mystery a focus on competing beliefs and uncertain alliances.
- Worth knowing
- The mystery concerns a mother’s murder, and the story includes violence. The level and detail of that violence are unclear.
