SuitabookOne Smart Cookie

- Reading
- Read it as a short chapter-by-chapter adventure, pausing to examine how pictures convey the squirrels’ expressions and how each setback affects the plan. If helpful, compare the fortunes’ claims with the characters’ choices.
- Themes
- Ingenuity and schemes: Norma, Belly and their companions devise a plan involving a fortune-cookie factory and altered fortunes to obtain food. The caper is presented through humour and energetic adventure, but the plan involves influencing other people rather than simply solving a practical obstacle.
- Setbacks and persistence: The group encounters factory hazards, a burned-out fortune writer and consumers who disregard the fortunes while pursuing its food-finding plan. The book presents this through fictional action, setbacks and comic adventure.
- Worth knowing
- Some action involves entering a factory, dodging hazards and trying to influence cookie consumers with altered fortunes. The treatment is described as humorous and involving slightly less peril than earlier volumes, though the ending’s details are not given.
