SuitabookMystery of the fat cat
Frank Bonham
- Reading
- You could read together and pause at the accusation against Buddy: ask what he knows, what he suspects, and what he might do next. This can help distinguish evidence from guesswork without deciding the outcome in advance.
- Themes
- Loyalty to the club: Four friends devise a plan when their Boys Club is threatened with closure for lack of funds. The book’s stance on this remains unclear.
- Suspicion and investigation: Buddy suspects the cat is not as old as claimed, investigates, and faces accusations of trespassing and harassment. The book’s stance on this remains unclear.
- A remark about smoking: An adult character says he would prefer his boys smoked pot rather than cigarettes. The remark is reported, but its context and whether the book questions or supports it are unclear.
- Worth knowing
- A rat bites Buddy, and he faces accusations of trespassing and harassment. An adult character also makes a remark comparing pot favourably with cigarettes; the extent of any related discussion is unclear.
