SuitabookMake Me Over
Marilyn Singer
- Reading
- Read one story at a time and pause to compare what each means by transformation. You could invite the reader to notice whether a story’s humour or seriousness affects its view of beauty.
- Themes
- Beauty and transformation: The stories explore cultural fascination with beauty and include questions about cosmetic surgery, dental implants and other forms of transformation. The collection presents different views and asks what kind of makeover can change a person inside and out; it does not establish a single position.
- Worth knowing
- Cosmetic surgery and dental implants are explicitly raised as possible forms of makeover, alongside a focus on cultural fascination with beauty. How directly these subjects appear in individual stories is unclear.
