- Reading
- If your reader is new to the series, briefly explain that the travelling cats are returning to their Clans. Then follow the two strands separately and notice where the journey and the forest crisis connect.
- Themes
- Two strands and a shared threat: The travelling cats encounter a mountain tribe while Leafpaw sees the forest damaged by humans’ machines. The parallel strands connect an encounter about beliefs with a threat to the cats’ home.
- Different beliefs and prophecies: The mountain tribe has its own beliefs and prophecy, and Stormfur is puzzled by its interest in him. The encounter raises questions about how the cats understand the tribe’s beliefs and prophecy.
- Worth knowing
- The forest’s destruction by humans’ machines and the danger facing the cats are part of the conflict. Consider whether environmental destruction or threatened homes might be upsetting for your reader.
