SuitabookFace to face
Ellery Queen
- Reading
- Read at a pace that leaves room to pause over the clue and competing explanations. You could compare your suspicions as the investigation unfolds, without needing to guess correctly.
- Themes
- Murder investigation: Ellery Queen and Harry Burke help investigate the death of a retired singer; a cryptic word and her husband’s alibi complicate progress. The book’s stance on this remains unclear.
- Money and relationships: The victim’s husband is described as having married her for money and as a philanderer; Burke had found the victim’s long-lost niece. These details connect money and personal relationships to the mystery, but their broader significance or treatment is unclear.
- Worth knowing
- The plot centres on a murder victim found slumped at her desk. Consider whether a fictional death investigation is a subject your reader is comfortable exploring.
