SuitabookChilling with the Great Ones

- Reading
- Read alongside the child if the premise raises questions, pausing after the discovery to ask what the characters know, what they are risking and whether there might be more than one responsible choice.
- Themes
- Rescue and responsibility: Three alien children search Area 51 after their spaceship is taken and discover legendary Looglians preserved in deep freeze. The premise creates a question about whether the children should rescue the Looglians and what responsibilities follow from discovering them.
- Humour amid the strange: The adventure combines wacky alien children, Area 51 and Roswell-linked legendary beings with a humorous chapter-book presentation. The available presentation frames unusual paranormal and extraterrestrial material as comic adventure rather than as a factual account.
- Worth knowing
- Pay attention to how the book balances comic treatment with the idea of beings held in deep freeze, and whether sneaking into a restricted place is presented as admirable, risky or simply part of the adventure.
