SuitabookThe Raven King
Maggie Stiefvater
- Reading
- If you are reading this together, consider starting with a brief recap of the earlier books, then pause to check in during the threat and prophecy-driven scenes. The conclusion relies on the quartet’s accumulated relationships and storylines.
- Themes
- Friendship and loyalty: The central group relies on one another while pursuing the search and facing supernatural danger. Friendship, loyalty and teamwork are presented as important strengths for the characters.
- Romantic relationships: Romantic feelings emerge among the teenagers, including the developing connection between Ronan and Adam. The book presents this favourably.
- Prophecy and magical plot: The search for Glendower and the threat to Cabeswater unfold amid overlapping prophecies and magical forces. The layered magic and overlapping prophecies can make the final resolution difficult to follow for some readers.
- Worth knowing
- A demon’s threat includes deaths, and the story raises tension around prophecy and possible catastrophe. Teen romances include kisses, caressing and heated looks; characters also swear, particularly in high-stakes situations.
