SuitabookStrive and succeed
Horatio Alger, Jr.
- Reading
- Check the edition's title page and contents first: one listed edition combines other Alger stories. Read a little together, then compare what each of you thinks the title promises.
- Themes
- Effort and success: The work is associated with diligence, conduct and success, while its title presents Walter Conrad's progress. These themes appear relevant, but their presence does not show whether the story praises, questions or complicates striving.
- Worth knowing
- The work is linked with conduct-of-life and success themes. Their treatment, and any specific difficult events in Walter's story, remain unclear.
