- Reading
- Try the opening together, then check whether the series references make sense without earlier books. Continue independently if the reader is comfortable with the setup and wants to find out what happens.
- Themes
- Magic and unexpected events: Ed has found a magic coin called Silver Center, and strange things happen around him. Magic is part of the premise, but its meaning or value in the story is not established.
- Family and the dinosaur: Ed's little sister is home when a blue dinosaur follows her there. The situation links a sibling relationship with an unusual visitor, but its effect on the family is unknown.
- Worth knowing
- A dinosaur unexpectedly following a child home may raise questions about danger or suspense. The extent of any threat, and how the characters respond, is not clear.
