- Reading
- Try reading a few poems at a time, pausing to compare their subjects and styles. This leaves room to discuss individual pieces without expecting a continuous narrative.
- Themes
- Personal subjects and social debate: These subjects appear among the collection’s varied poem topics. The topics invite attention to how individual poems frame personal experience and public discussion.
- Tributes to musicians: The collection includes tributes to both musicians. A reader might notice what qualities or ideas the poems choose to honour.
- Worth knowing
- The abortion debate and body image are among the subjects. If either is sensitive for your reader, consider checking in as you read; the poems’ treatment of these topics is unclear.
