Jim Curious

- Reading
- Try a first uninterrupted picture walk, then revisit selected spreads to discuss movement, scale, danger and the changing setting. Use the glasses as intended, while allowing pauses if the imagery feels intense.
- Themes
- Curiosity and exploration: Jim continues descending through underwater environments, meeting increasingly unfamiliar life and places. Persistence and curiosity appear to drive the adventure, though the silent pictures leave room for readers to decide what the journey means.
- Encountering the unknown: The diver encounters sharks, monsters, strange creatures, ruins and dark underwater forms as the descent continues. The imagery combines threat with visual fascination; it is not clear whether the book presents these encounters as frightening, exhilarating or both.
- Changing worlds: The journey reaches an undersea city and a final image in which the relationship between ocean, sea life and land changes dramatically. The ending appears designed as a striking visual reversal, but its meaning and emotional direction remain open.
- Worth knowing
- Some scenes may merit advance awareness: the diver meets a huge shark, monsters and other dangers; darkness and looming forms are part of the underwater atmosphere. The ending involves the ocean draining or sea life overtaking land.
