SuitabookThe Tales of Beedle the Bard
J. K. Rowling
- Reading
- Read one tale at a time, then pause over Dumbledore’s commentary and the accompanying notes. You can decide together whether to skip or discuss the more graphic story.
- Themes
- Fairy tales and moral lessons: The tales include lessons about helping neighbours, honesty and not closing oneself off to others. The tales frame some lessons as specific to the wizarding world, while others have wider application.
- Worth knowing
- One story depicts a man cutting out a woman’s heart and then his own; the collection also includes a fatal duel, throat-slitting and suicide. Consider whether these fairy-tale scenes suit your reader.
