SuitabookSly the Sleuth and the pet mysteries
Donna Jo Napoli
- Reading
- Try reading a case at a time, pausing to consider possible explanations before Sly solves it. You could compare your ideas with the clues as the investigation unfolds.
- Themes
- Unusual pet behaviour: Cases involve a cat that keeps getting fatter despite being on a diet and a fish that seems angry with its owner. These are presented as puzzles for Sly to investigate; how the book treats pet care or the animals' behaviour is not established.
- A missing pet: One case concerns Wilson, a peculiar pet who suddenly disappears. The disappearance is the starting point for a mystery; its circumstances and resolution are unclear.
- Worth knowing
- The mysteries include a pet that suddenly disappears and animals whose behaviour seems unusual. If a child is sensitive to uncertainty about pets, these situations may be worth mentioning before reading.
