Reading: Try the opening volume together first, then decide whether to continue through the arc; pause to check in if the scheme or clan conflict feels intense.
Themes: A quest-led fantasy arc: Rusty, an ordinary housecat, sets out to become a warrior with help from friends. The premise frames the series around a character's quest and companionship as he enters a warrior world.
Rival clans and forbidden love: Forbidden love unfolds between two rival clans. The relationship is part of the plot, but its treatment and consequences are not described.
Worth knowing: Parents might explore how the sinister scheme, forest secrets, and forbidden love shape the story.
