SuitabookA penguin named Patience
Suzanne Lewis
- Reading
- Read together and pause to locate the journey on a map. Invite your child to notice what the penguins need during the evacuation and what changes when their home is restored.
- Themes
- Rescue and return: After Hurricane Katrina damages the aquarium and endangers its penguins, Patience and the others leave their home for temporary care in California, then return after repairs. The book presents this mainly as information or explanation.
- Worth knowing
- The aquarium is severely damaged, and dangerous heat puts the penguins in peril before they are evacuated. This may prompt questions about animal welfare during disasters.
