- Reading
- Pause at each new message and invite your reader to make a prediction, then revisit it as the characters learn more. This can make the mystery easier to follow together.
- Themes
- Ecological catastrophe: The teenagers try to prevent an impending ecological disaster that could threaten humanity. The disaster provides the story’s high stakes, but its causes and how the book treats environmental responsibility are unclear.
- Worth knowing
- The stakes include a disaster that could endanger humanity. If such large-scale peril feels intense, consider reading the opening together before deciding whether to continue independently.
