Seton converts from Protestantism to Catholicism despite opposition from her family and the wider persecution Catholics faced.
After her husband’s death and the loss of family wealth, Seton founds the American Sisters of Charity and a Catholic school.
The Sisters of Charity establish schools, orphanages and hospitals, and the congregation grows to twenty-one communities by Seton’s death.
Some readers may want support around a husband’s death from tuberculosis, loss of family fortune, religious persecution and relatives’ shock at conversion. The treatment of illness, grief and conflict is not described in detail.
This is a grounded book brief while Suitabook strengthens the analysis: some draft conclusions still depend on unresolved evidence.
