Quick, little monkey!

The contrast between Little Monkey's curiosity and the danger she encounters may prompt a child to think about animal behaviour and how young animals stay safe.

There are perilous encounters: an ocelot is hunting, and Little Monkey later becomes caught in a tree boa's coils. Consider whether predator danger suits your child's current comfort with suspense.

If Little Monkey's encounters feel tense, ask what she might be noticing in her surroundings and what helps her decide what to do.

Read together and pause at the animal encounters if useful; afterwards, invite your child to share which part felt most exciting or worrying, without assuming how they will react.
