Sign in for personalised guidanceHow the book presents it: The setup treats the boys’ anticipation of the gargoyles’ tricks as part of the comic fun, rather than presenting the mischief simply as a problem.
Talk about: If the boys are blamed, how might they respond?
The appeal is comic chaos among friends, with Max and Ben looking forward to the gargoyles’ antics rather than trying to avoid them.
Pranks and the possibility that the boys will be blamed for the resulting chaos are part of the setup.
If the boys are blamed for the chaos, what might they do—and would you think that was fair?
Try it as a light comic adventure, pausing to talk about the difference between a funny prank and one that causes trouble for someone else.
