Polo has wanted to find his mother since he was a kitten and sets out hoping she is still nearby.
The cat who returns is not the mother Polo expected, yet he is thrilled to have found her and questions whether she loves him.
Polo and his friends investigate questions such as whether a refrigerator light switches off when its door closes and what is atop a church steeple.
The opening frames spring as especially sad because it reminds Polo of his mother. Notice whether the story treats his longing, his mother’s roaming, and their relationship with reassurance, ambiguity or unresolved tension.
This is a grounded book brief while Suitabook strengthens the analysis: the current material supports only a cautious reading; another book-specific source is still needed.
