Talk about: What makes the sandbox feel special to Lesedi?
The story moves between real-life play and Lesedi’s imagined beach visit, with illustrations helping readers follow his changing surroundings and activities.
The imagined visit includes a roaring ocean and wind blowing Lesedi’s umbrella away; these brief moments may prompt a chat about what the beach sounds and feels like.
Which parts of Lesedi’s imagined beach day would you most like to try, and what would you put in your own pretend play space?
Pause at the changing scenes and invite your child to spot clues about where Lesedi is; then notice the colours, shells and shapes together.
