Logan forms a strong bond with Jack, and they flee together when she is threatened.
A disease makes dogs vicious before they die, while people react irrationally and dogs are shot on sight.
The story includes a deadly canine disease, dogs turning vicious, and people shooting dogs on sight. It also involves family conflict and Logan’s troubled relationships with his father and stepfather.
