Benjie imagines himself as a spy, follows clues and is described as brave and resourceful while captured by the burglars.
Pete protects the family, helps guide the humans towards the solution, and the story includes commentary on kindness to animals and the importance of family and friends.
The most important point to preview is the level of peril: a home is robbed and Benjie is kidnapped, with his captivity described as potentially frightening for very sensitive children.
This is a grounded book brief while Suitabook strengthens the analysis: some draft conclusions still depend on unresolved evidence.
