Luis Ortega Survival Club

The story puts the difference between not refusing and actively agreeing at its centre, and connects that question to accountability. It also follows Ari’s growing connections, including feelings for another girl.

The plot includes sex at a party without clear agreement, rumours, and boys treating Ari as an easy target. These elements may warrant a check-in if they could be difficult for your reader.

What do you think makes agreement clear, and how might someone support a person who is unsure whether they have the right to be upset?

Consider checking in before and after reading the party encounter and its aftermath. Let your reader set the pace, and make space to pause or return to Ari’s friendships and choices instead.
