Sam is separated from his evacuation bus and must keep moving through fire and smoke; later, he and Delphy seek civilisation together.
Sam encounters Delphy, another lost young person, and they join forces while trying to escape the wildfire.
The central danger is intense: explosive flames, deadly smoke, burning lungs and repeated threats to life. Sam also remembers his late father, so the survival plot includes bereavement-related material.
This is a grounded book brief while Suitabook strengthens the analysis: another book-specific source is still needed; some draft conclusions still depend on unresolved evidence.
